Biography

Xiaodong Lin received his PhD from the Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, China, and another PhD from the University of Waterloo. He served as an Associate Professor at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology and at Wilfrid Laurier University before joining the University of Guelph’s School of Computer Science as an Associate Professor in 2019. His research focuses on areas such as Cyber Forensics and Threat Intelligence, with particular studies on Cloud Forensics, Mobile Forensics, File System Forensics, and Cryptocurrency Transaction Analysis. He authored the textbook 'Introductory Computer Forensics: Hands-on Practical Approach', published by Springer in 2018, which is widely used in undergraduate and graduate digital forensics courses globally. Additionally, he has received the Paper Award from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) INFOCOM in 2018, and has held roles such as Chair of the IEEE Communications Information Security Technical Committee from 2015 to 2016. Lin is currently an Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Information Forensics and Security as well as IEEE Internet of Things Journal, and served as Program Co-Chair for the Annual Digital Forensic Research Conference (DFRWS USA) in 2020.
