Biography

XiaoHang Fang joined the Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering at the University of Calgary in 2022. Before his appointment in Calgary, he served as an engineering science lecturer at Oriel & Sommerville College, University of Oxford, and was a research fellow in the Thermal Propulsion System Research Group. He also completed his postdoctoral research funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council at the same group. Fang has a Bachelor of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of British Columbia, which he obtained in 2016, and a DPhil in Engineering Science from the University of Oxford in 2019. He leads several research projects concerning novel combustion chamber design and abnormal combustion simulations. His research interests include turbulent combustion, specifically development of new combustion models and simulation of propulsion systems. Additionally, Fang is an active reviewer for several prominent journals in the field of combustion science and serves as an editor for SAE Technical papers.
