Biography

Xiaojun Zeng is a Professor of Machine Learning and Optimization at the University of Manchester. He received his B.Sc. in Mathematics and M.Sc. in Control Theory and Operations Research from Xiamen University, China. He completed his Ph.D. in Computation at the University of Manchester. Since joining the university in 2002, he has focused on computational intelligence and machine learning, contributing to nearly 200 journal and conference papers. His research interests span decision support systems, computational finance, game theory, health informatics, and data mining. Zeng's work includes participation in various EU projects, such as QoSIPS and Big Data Finance, and he serves as an Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Fuzzy Systems. He has also held several leadership roles in international conferences and has been an elected member of the EPSRC College. Through his projects, he aims to address the challenges of IoT in higher education, particularly in the context of Middle Eastern countries.
