Biography

Xiaojun Zeng received his B.Sc. degree in Mathematics and M.Sc. degree in Control Theory Operations Research from Xiamen University, China. He obtained his Ph.D. in Computation from the University of Manchester, UK. Since 2002, he has been with the Department of Computer Science at the University of Manchester, where he is currently a Professor focusing on Machine Learning and Optimization. Dr. Zeng has a wealth of experience in developing intelligent decision support systems. He was awarded the European Information Society Technologies (IST) Award in 1999 and the Microsoft European Retail Application Developer Awards in 2001 and 2003. His research interests encompass computational intelligence, machine learning, decision support systems, computational finance, game theory, health informatics, and data mining, having published nearly 200 journal and conference papers. He has also participated in multiple funded research projects, including significant EU Framework Programme projects. Dr. Zeng serves the academic community as an Associate Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Fuzzy Systems and has held leadership roles in various IEEE conferences. He is actively involved in advancing education and training in emerging fields, particularly through projects like IoTRAIN, aimed at improving IoT skills in higher education institutions in Iran.
