Biography

Professor Xiaolin Wei, MD, PhD, FCAHS, is an internationally recognized leader in global health policy and implementation science whose work has significantly shaped health systems both nationally and internationally. He holds the inaugural Dalla Lana Chair in Global Health Policy at the University of Toronto, where he has led major scientific and policy innovations in tuberculosis, antimicrobial resistance, and chronic disease care. Professor Wei has authored nearly 200 peer-reviewed journal articles published in high-impact journals such as The Lancet and Nature Medicine and has secured over C$16m in research funding from prominent organizations including NIHR and CIHR. He has served as a Board Member and Secretary General of the International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease and is a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences. His research primarily focuses on implementation science frameworks to improve health policies and practices in low- and middle-income countries and has led to substantial changes in global policies regarding tuberculosis, antimicrobial resistance, and other health challenges. Throughout his career, he has supervised over 50 junior staff and 30 postgraduate students in Canada, the UK, and Hong Kong and has made significant contributions to public health education.
