Dr. Xiaona Lu

Biography

Xiaona Lu is a Research Scientist at Yale School of Medicine, specializing in Genetics. She completed her PhD at Tsinghua University and Peking Union Medical College in 2019, following an MD from Central South University's XiangYa School of Medicine in 2013. Her research mainly focuses on neurogenetic disorders such as Angelman syndrome and involves innovative methodologies like CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing. She has contributed significantly to understanding the transcriptional complexity of autism-associated Shank family genes and has been involved in various collaborative projects aiming to enhance drug development for these conditions. Xiaona has received multiple awards for her research, including the Young Investigator Award and the Trainee Research Excellence Award from the American Society of Human Genetics. She actively participates in oral and poster presentations at major scientific conferences, sharing her findings with the wider academic community. In addition to her research, she is committed to advancing patient contributions and enhancing variant discovery rates in neurodevelopmental disorders.
