Dr. Xiaoning Qian

Biography

Xiaoning Qian is a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Texas A&M University. He holds the Segers Family Dean's Excellence Professorship II and serves as affiliated faculty in Computer Science Engineering. His research primarily focuses on bioinformatics, specifically in the analysis of intervention biological networks and functional data analysis of genomic and proteomic datasets. He has also contributed to the field of biomedical image processing, including robust boundary finding in image segmentation and shape-based similarity retrieval in multimedia databases. Moreover, Qian's work involves the application of Bayesian methods, particularly in Bayesian learning and optimal experimental design. He has an extensive educational background, having earned his Ph.D. from Yale University, and is actively involved in research and scholarly activities.
