Biography

Xiaopeng Li is currently an Associate Professor in the School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering at the University of New South Wales, Sydney. He leads a research group focused on additive manufacturing and advanced materials research. He received his PhD in Materials Engineering from the University of Queensland, Australia, in 2013, where his thesis won the Thesis Award from the Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence for Design in Light Metals. Prior to his current position, he was an Assistant Professor at the University of Western Australia from 2013 to 2016, working on additive manufacturing, metallic glasses, and light alloys composites. He subsequently held a research fellowship at KU Leuven, Belgium, in a prominent additive manufacturing group led by Professor Jean-Pierre Kruth until 2017. Dr. Li was awarded the Australian Research Council DECRA Fellowship in 2020 and has been listed among the World’s Top 2% Scientists in Materials and Applied Physics by Stanford University. His research interests include additive manufacturing, physical metallurgy, advanced materials structures, machine learning, sustainability, and medical devices.
