Dr. Xiaoqian Chai

Biography

Xiaoqian Chai is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery at McGill University, and an Associate Member in the Department of Biomedical Engineering. Dr. Chai's research program focuses on understanding the relationship between brain organization and cognitive development. This work examines large-scale brain networks that support learning, memory, and language. Dr. Chai is particularly interested in the neural developmental processes underlying cognitive functions in children and adults, as well as how experiences and diseases alter brain organization. Her research methodologies include behavioral assessments, brain imaging techniques such as functional MRI and resting-state fMRI, diffusion-weighted imaging, and various computational approaches. Dr. Chai's expertise lies in areas including neuroimaging, magnetic resonance imaging, neuroinformatics, and machine learning, with the aim of uncovering insights into psychiatric disorders and cognitive processes.
