Biography

Xiaoyuan Lou is an Associate Professor of Nuclear Engineering with a courtesy appointment in Materials Engineering at Purdue University. He earned his Ph.D. in Materials Science Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology in 2010, and holds a M.S. in Materials Science Engineering from Ohio State University (2005), and a B.S. in Physics from Nanjing University (2002). His research interests focus on advanced manufacturing, nuclear structural alloys, composites, material degradation in extreme environments, irradiation effects on materials, mechanical behavior of materials, and data analytics in machine learning. Dr. Lou is actively affiliated with several professional societies, including the Minerals, Metals & Materials Society (TMS), the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), and the Nuclear Science User Facilities (NSUF). He also participates in the ICG-EAC group on environmentally-assisted cracking and is involved with ASTM International and the Association for Materials Protection and Performance (AMPP).
