Biography

Xikui Wang earned his PhD in Statistics from the University of Saskatchewan in 1995, following an MSc in Mathematics in 1989. He holds a BSc in Mathematics from Central China Normal University, completed in 1984. Since 2000, Wang has been a faculty member at the University of Manitoba, where he taught in the Department of Statistics until July 2020. He then joined the Asper School of Business as the LAH Warren Chair of Actuarial Science at the Warren Centre for Actuarial Studies and Research. An active researcher, Wang has obtained numerous grants, including a recent $90,000 from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada, focusing on statistical dependence models and their applications in clinical trials and risk management. His research interests include risk management, mathematical finance, dynamic pricing, and various advanced statistical methods. In addition to research, he is dedicated to teaching topics such as stochastic optimization, contributing to the advancement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in poverty reduction and environmental sustainability.
