Biography

Xin completed a Ph.D. in Statistics in June 2021 from the Department of Statistics and Data Science at Cornell University, where he was jointly advised by Florentina Bunea and Marten Wegkamp. Before pursuing his Ph.D., he obtained a BS in Mathematics from Shandong University in 2013, followed by an MS in Statistics from the University of Washington, Seattle in 2016. His research interests primarily focus on developing new methodologies and theoretical guarantees to address modern statistical challenges. His areas of expertise include high-dimensional statistics, low-rank matrix estimation, multivariate analysis, model-based clustering, latent factor models, and topic models. Additionally, he is interested in minimax estimation, high-dimensional inference, and the computational trade-offs in statistical modeling. Xin also explores applications of statistical methods in genetics, neuroscience, and immunology.
