Dr. Xin Wang

Biography

Xin Wang is a Chancellor’s Professor in the Mechanical Aerospace Engineering Department at Carleton University. He has completed his B.Sc. at Dalian University of Technology and both his M.Sc. and Ph.D. at the University of Waterloo. His research interests primarily focus on Numerical Analytical Fracture Mechanics, Fatigue Fracture, and Welded Structures, emphasizing Failure Assessment Methods, Finite Element Applications, and Advanced Design Methods. Dr. Wang's work in solid mechanics and linear nonlinear fracture mechanics contributes significantly to both academic and practical engineering challenges, such as assessing the integrity of pressure vessels and piping systems. His extensive research enables accurate laboratory testing to predict damage in full-scale engineering structures, particularly in the aerospace and offshore industries. Dr. Wang has been acknowledged with the Carleton University Research Achievement Award from 2007-2008 and has served in various capacities at international conferences and committees related to fracture mechanics and engineering.
