Generate a tailored SOP for Dr. Xinbo Yang. Improve your application with a focused, well-structured draft.
Xinbo Yang is an Assistant Professor at the Sloan Kettering Institute, where he leads a research laboratory focused on T cell receptor (TCR) specificity in cancer and autoimmune diseases. His lab endeavors to understand the molecular basis of self-foreign discrimination in the immune system, employing interdisciplinary approaches such as antigen-discovery platforms, protein engineering techniques, and structural biology tools. The research conducted in his lab investigates how T cells patrol host tissues to identify and eliminate infected or malignant cells. A key area of study is the failure of T cells to recognize these cells, leading to pathogen evasion in cancer and collateral damage to healthy tissue, which is a hallmark of autoimmune diseases. The ultimate goal of Yang's research is to facilitate animal model generation for further insights into disease pathogenesis, which can aid in the development of pMHC-based therapeutics. He earned his PhD from the University of Maryland College Park.
The program is hosted by the Weill Cornell Graduate School of Medical Sciences in partnership with the Sloan Kettering Institute. GRE scores are optional.
