Biography

Xingqi Zhang received a Bachelor of Science degree with honors from Harbin Institute of Technology, China, and both Master of Applied Science and PhD degrees from the University of Toronto, Canada. He is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Alberta, Canada, and also affiliated with the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at University College Dublin, Ireland, where he serves as an Adjunct Professor. Furthermore, he has held visiting professorships at the University of Toronto and the Queen Mary University of London. Zhang is an Associate Investigator at the Science Foundation Ireland Research Centre for Future Networks and Communications (CONNECT). His research is focused on applied electromagnetics and wireless communications, specifically on developing high-performance computational models and algorithms for emerging wireless technologies such as 5G, 6G, and THz communications. He contributes to various research projects funded by industry and research councils, collaborating with leading universities and international companies. Notably, he is the coordinator and lead principal investigator of a large-scale European-funded Horizon 2020 project. Zhang has served as Associate Editor for several prestigious journals and is an active member of numerous technical program committees for significant conferences. He has received multiple awards, including the ACES Early Career Award and the RIA Charlemont Award, among others.
