Dr. Xingqi Zhang

Biography

Xingqi Zhang received B.Sc. degree (graduated with honors) from Harbin Institute of Technology, China, and M.A.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Toronto, Canada. He is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Alberta, Canada, and is also affiliated with the School of Electrical & Electronic Engineering at University College Dublin, Ireland, as an Adjunct Professor. He has previously served as a Visiting Professor at the University of Toronto and Queen Mary University of London, and is an Associate Investigator at the Science Foundation Ireland Research Centre, focusing on Future Networks and Communications. His research interests lie in applied electromagnetics and wireless communications, emphasizing the development of high-performance computational models and algorithms for emerging wireless technologies like 5G, 6G, Internet of Things, and biomedical sensing applications. He leads various research council and industry-funded projects, collaborating with top universities and companies globally. Zhang has held editorial roles in leading journals and has received several prestigious awards, including the ACES Early Career Award and RIA Charlemont Award.
