Biography

Xiucai Ding is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Statistics at the University of California, Davis. He began his tenure in 2025 after serving as an Assistant Professor from October 2020 to June 2025. Ding completed his PhD in Statistics at the University of Toronto in 2018 under the supervision of Jeremy Quastel. Prior to his appointment at UC Davis, he worked as a research associate at Duke University with Hau-Tieng Wu from October 2018 to September 2020. His current research is supported by the National Science Foundation, focusing on topics such as manifold learning, deep learning, large foundation models, high-dimensional statistics, large scale mean-field asymptotics, applied random matrix theory, scalable computation, randomized numerical linear algebra, stochastic optimization, and non-stationary time series analysis with applications in biological and medical sciences.
