Biography

Xiuling Li is a professor at the University of Texas at Austin, holding the Temple Foundation Endowed Professorship 3 in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. She received her B.S. degree from Peking University and her Ph.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles. Dr. Li has had post-doctoral positions at the California Institute of Technology and the University of Illinois, where she joined the faculty in 2007. She has also worked in industry with II-VI, Inc., which was formerly EpiWorks, Inc. Her research focuses on nanostructured semiconductor materials and devices, contributing to over 160 journal publications and holding more than 20 patents. Dr. Li has delivered over 120 invited lectures worldwide and has been recognized with several awards, including the NSF CAREER Award and the DARPA Young Faculty Award. She is a Fellow of the IEEE, the American Physics Society, the Optical Society, and the National Academy of Inventors. Currently, she serves as a Deputy Editor of Applied Physics Letters and is involved in various committees and boards within the IEEE community. Her innovative approaches to epitaxial growth and nanofabrication are aimed at addressing the needs for smaller, lighter, and more cost-effective microelectronic devices, with applications in semiconductor technology, electronics, photonics, and even medicine in the future.
