Biography

Xu Li is an Associate Professor in the Counseling Psychology program within the Department of Educational Psychology at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. He is a licensed clinical psychologist in Illinois and Wisconsin. Xu earned his B.S. in Mathematical Sciences and Ed.M. in Clinical Counseling Psychology from Beijing Normal University, China, before moving to the United States. He obtained his Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Maryland, College Park. His research focuses on the processes and outcomes of both individual and group psychotherapy in multicultural and cross-cultural contexts. He has a particular interest in employing advanced quantitative statistical methods for psychotherapy research. In his spare time, Xu enjoys outdoor activities, particularly hiking, camping, and exploring wilderness areas.
