Biography

Xueyan Chen is an Associate Professor and the Director of Developmental Hematopathology at UW Medicine. His research focuses on characterizing the immunophenotype of myeloid stem cell neoplasms and investigating the genetic mutations that relate to clinical responses in acute leukemia. Through rigorous analysis, his work aims to determine the prognostic impact of minimal residual disease on treatment outcomes. Xueyan received his MD from Beijing Medical University in 1995 and an MS in Cell Biology from Peking Union Medical College in 1998. He obtained his PhD in Cell, Molecular & Developmental Biology from Tufts University in 2003. Following his doctoral studies, he completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and went on to train in Anatomic Clinical Pathology at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics. His clinical training also included a fellowship in Hematopathology at the University of Washington.
