Biography

Ya Wang is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Texas A&M University and holds the Leland T. Jordan Career Development Professorship. He is also affiliated with the Department of Biomedical Engineering, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, and Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. He specializes in the fields of mechanical engineering with a focus on magnetic-plasmonic nanorobotics, nanomedicine, human sensing activity tracking, semiconductor optical modulators, as well as dynamics, controls, and energy harvesting. Wang obtained his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 2012, and holds both a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Puerto Rico and Shandong University, respectively. His research contributions have garnered numerous awards, including the PECASE award in 2024 and recognition as an ASME Fellow in 2022. Wang is an active member of various professional organizations and often participates in collaborative research endeavors aimed at advancing engineering applications.
