Biography

Yael David is a chemical biologist whose research applies core techniques from chemical biology, biochemistry, and cell biology to address fundamental questions of epigenetic regulation of transcription. The focus of her lab is to understand how dynamic modifications of chromatin's building blocks—DNA and histone packaging proteins—establish and maintain cell identity and fate. Her efforts include the development of chemical methods to synthesize site-specifically modified histones in vitro and in vivo, investigating the roles these modifications play in various disease states, with the ultimate goal of targeting therapeutics to improve treatment and outcomes. Dr. David's work is particularly centered on the relationship between epigenetic changes and cancer, aiming to uncover how these alterations contribute to cancer mechanisms.
