Biography

Yael Lifshitz is a leading voice in the fields of energy law and policy, as well as property law theory. Her research explores the diverse set of rules and institutions that govern access to resources, with a particular emphasis on energy governance. Notably, her latest project investigates a new type of energy governance that has emerged due to fundamental shifts in the generation of electricity worldwide. At the Dickson Poon School of Law at King’s College London, she teaches modules on property law, energy law, and environmental law, including Energy Transitions in Green Technology. Lifshitz is a member of King’s College London’s Centre for Climate Law and Governance and the Yeoh Tiong Lay Centre for Politics, Philosophy and Law, as well as a fellow at the Guarini Center for Environmental, Energy and Land Use Law at New York University (NYU) Law School. Her scholarly work has been published in prominent journals such as the University of Toronto Law Journal and the NYU Law Review, and she has presented her research at various prestigious conferences. Prior to her current role, she served as an Associate Law Lecturer at Columbia University in New York and was an advisor for the Environmental and Energy Law LLM program at NYU Law School. Lifshitz earned her doctorate and masters in law from NYU School of Law and has been involved in significant academic dialogues regarding energy law and sustainability.
