Biography

Yafei Wang is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences at the University of Alberta, specializing in complex structured massive data analysis. He focuses on developing methods for robust estimation, optimal design, and hypothesis testing in functional data analysis, particularly in the application of brain imaging data analysis and stochastic optimization. Prior to joining the University of Alberta in 2023, he held a position as a Lecturer at the University of Essex from November 2022 to June 2023, and served as a postdoctoral research fellow at the same university from November 2019 to October 2022, under the supervision of Dr. Linglong Kong and Dr. Bei Jiang. He completed his Ph.D. at the College of Applied Sciences at the Beijing University of Technology in 2019, supervised by Dr. Zhongzhan Zhang. His research interests also include statistical inference, reinforcement learning, and the investigation of the interpretability of data-driven decision-making problems.
