Yaguang Zheng is an Assistant Professor at NYU Rory Meyers College of Nursing. His research focuses on cardiometabolic risk reduction leveraging mobile health, electronic health records, and data science techniques. Zheng has explored behavioral phenotypes through the use of wireless devices in clinical trials and real-world settings, specifically impacting cardiometabolic disease prevention and management. His initial work concentrated on lifestyle behavior changes promoted by mobile health, particularly using self-monitoring to enhance weight-loss outcomes. Identifying a critical knowledge gap in the area of mobile health engagement, Zheng conducted a pilot study demonstrating that older adults can effectively use multiple mobile devices to improve diabetes self-management, challenging the stereotype that older adults are skeptical of multiple mobile technologies. He employed machine learning algorithms to analyze data from a large real-world sample, revealing diverse patterns of wireless device usage over time, which aids in targeting subgroups for long-term engagement with mobile health devices. Additionally, Zheng has worked with electronic health record data, mobile health data, and wearable devices, including continuous glucose monitors, in practical clinical applications. Before joining the NYU Meyers faculty, he was a postdoctoral scholar at the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing, supported by an NIH grant.
