Biography

Yaiza Hernández Velázquez joined the University of Southampton in September 2024, following a position as a lecturer in Curating at Goldsmiths, University of London from 2019 to 2024. She previously worked as a lecturer in the Department of Art at Central Saint Martins, UAL, from 2013 to 2019, where she led the MRes Art: Exhibition Studies pathway. Before returning to academia, Yoza worked for over a decade in various art institutions, including MACBA in Barcelona as Head of Public Programmes, CENDEAC in Murcia as a director, and CAAM in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria as Curator of Collections and Exhibitions. She holds a PhD from the Centre for Research in Modern European Philosophy under the supervision of Professor Peter Osborne and an MA in Visual Cultures from Middlesex University supervised by Professor Jean Fisher.
