Dr. Yalan Song

Biography

Yalan Song is an Assistant Research Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Penn State University. His research focuses on integrating machine learning techniques with physical models to address complex geoscience problems. He has published several papers examining subjects such as deep learning insights for hydrology, data integration methods for snow water equivalent predictions, and differentiable modeling for unifying machine learning with physical models in geosciences. Yalan has collaborated with various researchers to enhance the understanding of sediment concentrations and improve the predictive capabilities of hydrological models. He is involved in organizing conferences and contributing to the academic community through conference committees.
