Biography

Yalda Mohsenzadeh is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at Western University and a core member of the Brain and Mind Institute. She is also a faculty affiliate at the Vector Institute for Artificial Intelligence. Yalda has previously worked as a postdoctoral associate in the Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Lab at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and as a postdoctoral fellow at the Center for Vision Research at York University. She received her PhD in statistical machine learning from Amirkabir University of Technology. Her research focuses on bridging the gap between artificial intelligence and human intelligence, primarily concentrating on the underlying computational principles of visual intelligence in humans and artificial systems. She develops deep learning and machine learning techniques for applications in computer vision and understanding of image, video, and audio data. Yalda employs various brain imaging techniques, along with behavioral and computational modeling methodologies utilizing deep neural networks, to study human perception and memory processes.
