Dr. Yale Cohen

Biography

Yale E. Cohen is a faculty member at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, where he serves as the Gabriel Tucker Professor II and Director of the Hearing Sciences Center. His research focuses on the integration of sensory, motor, and cognitive processes in understanding auditory information representation in the cortex. Cohen’s studies delve into how auditory signals are coupled with cognitive tasks including attention, decision-making, and memory. He works within several interdisciplinary groups, including cognitive science and neuroengineering initiatives. His extensive publication record includes influential contributions to the fields of auditory perception and computational neuroscience, with notable studies published in 'Scientific Reports,' 'Cell Reports,' and 'Frontiers in Computational Neuroscience.' Cohen obtained his BSE in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan in 1988, followed by an MSE in Bioengineering, and a PhD in Bioengineering from the University of Pennsylvania in 1990 and 1992 respectively.
