Biography

Yale E. Goldman is an Emeritus Professor in the Department of Physiology at the University of Pennsylvania. He has dedicated his research to understanding the mechanics and dynamics of motor proteins and their role in cellular processes. His expertise includes studies on actin, myosin, dynein, and kinesin, specifically focusing on the structural and functional attributes of GTP-binding proteins. Goldman’s innovative methodologies, such as single-molecule biophysical techniques, have significantly contributed to the comprehension of biological energy transduction and molecular motors. His academic journey began with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Northwestern University in 1969, followed by his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in 1975 and a Ph.D. in Physiology.
