Biography

Yaman Gürsel is a Turkish-qualified lawyer with an LL.M. from the University of Fribourg, Switzerland, and an LLB from Istanbul Bilgi University. He is currently a Kronstein Fellow at Georgetown Law Center, where he is engaged in externship at Crowns LLP in Washington DC. His fields of expertise include international commercial arbitration, investment arbitration, and secured transactions law. Gürsel has worked on numerous international arbitrations involving commercial and investment disputes, particularly under Swiss and Turkish law. He completed his LL.M. studies with magna cum laude honors and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in private law under the supervision of Professor Dr. Pascal Pichonnaz. His doctoral dissertation focuses on the comparative analysis of floating charges and non-possessory pledges on movable assets, with an aim to optimize financing accessibility for small and medium enterprises (SMEs). Gürsel has published several articles in his area of specialization, particularly focusing on comparative secured transactions law and non-possessory security interests in movable properties.
