Biography

Yan Slavinskiy is an Associate Clinical Professor at Loyola Law School, where he teaches Legal Research and Writing, as well as Ethical Lawyering and Generative AI Legal Practice. Prior to joining Loyola, he served as an Assistant District Attorney in the New York County District Attorney’s Office’s Appellate Division. Professor Slavinskiy completed his clerkship under Honorable Frank Maas at the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York and Honorable Jean P. Rosenbluth at the United States District Court for the Central District of California. He graduated summa cum laude from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, where he served as an editor for the Cardozo Law Review and received the faculty’s Felix Frankfurter Award for outstanding academic achievement. His work includes a significant publication titled "Protecting Family Home: Re-understanding United States v. Bajakajian" in the Cardozo Law Review. Professor Slavinskiy is also a co-author of the forthcoming 10th edition of Legal Method Writing. He actively participates in national and international conferences discussing generative AI in legal practice and has addressed issues related to systemic inequality in legal writing and generational learning differences.
