Biography

Dr. Yan Wang is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the UCLA School of Dentistry, specializing in survey design, sampling algorithms, and the application of data science and machine learning techniques. She joined the dental school faculty in 2023 and is currently leading a study on the oral microbiome in Kenyan children and adolescents living with HIV, focusing on those who have been on antiretroviral therapy for over ten years. In 2023, she was awarded the CHIPTS mentored grant to study resilience among youth living with HIV in informal settlements in Nairobi. Dr. Wang holds a Ph.D. in Biostatistics from UCLA and has completed several prestigious postdoctoral fellowships, including positions at the Dornsife School of Public Health at Drexel University and the School of Medicine at UCLA. Her research interests lie in HIV, Pediatric Oral Health, Oral Microbiome, Global Health in Kenya, Statistical Modeling of microbiome data, Survey Design, and Sampling Algorithms.
