Biography

Yan Zhang is a Professor at the University of Texas at Austin's School of Information. His research primarily explores user perceptions of information systems, focusing on web-based information retrieval systems. He is also involved in understanding consumer health information needs and designing consumer health information systems. Dr. Zhang earned his Ph.D. from the School of Information and Library Science at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, in 2009. His earlier qualifications include a Master’s in Information Sciences from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, obtained in 2004, and a Bachelor’s in Information Management Systems from Nanjing University in 2001. His expertise encompasses software usability, human factors, information retrieval, and consumer health information architecture. He regularly teaches courses related to information architecture and health informatics.
