Biography

Yanchong (Karen) Zheng is the George M. Bunker Professor and Associate Professor of Operations Management at MIT Sloan School of Management. She received her PhD degree from Stanford University and both her BS and MS degrees from Tsinghua University in China. Her research focuses on smallholder supply chains in developing countries, emphasizing supply chain transparency and information sharing. Karen’s work also explores environmentally and socially responsible operations, applying behavioral operations research to improve the management of supply chains. Her projects include optimizing online auctions to alleviate poverty among smallholder farmers and enhancing the role of farmer organizations in food safety initiatives. She is dedicated to tackling operational issues on a global scale, ensuring that her research has practical implications for farmers and communities around the world.
