Biography

Yang Liu is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pathology at Yale University, appointed on August 1, 2022. He earned his PhD in Environmental Toxicology from the University of California, Riverside, in 2017, where he also completed his Master’s degree in Computer Science. Dr. Liu's postdoctoral research at Yale involved developing high spatial resolution multi-omics sequencing techniques, particularly the DBiT-seq method, which allows for near single-cell spatial resolution sequencing of RNA and proteins in tissue sections. He has also worked on the Spatial-CITE-seq technology for high-plex spatial epitope sequencing. His research aims to apply these spatial omics techniques to study tumor microenvironments, neurological diseases, heart vascular diseases, and microbiome development. Dr. Liu’s contributions have been recognized with several awards, including the SITC-SU2C Convergence Scholar Award in 2019 and the NIH HuBMAP Jumpstart Award in 2021.
