Biography

Yangxin Fu is currently appointed as an Associate Professor in the Division of Experimental Oncology at the University of Alberta's Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry. His research primarily focuses on the molecular mechanisms that govern tumorigenic phenotypes in ovarian cancer, including signaling pathways and gene regulation. He aims to determine the molecular mechanisms regulating tumorigenic phenotypes in ovarian cancer to identify potential novel therapeutic targets, especially in cases where current treatments fail due to recurrent therapy-resistant disease. Additionally, Fu's research investigates the impact of ribosomal RNA methylations on mRNA translation in glioblastoma, a common and aggressive malignant primary brain tumor. His work seeks to understand the molecular mechanisms underlying glioblastoma initiation and progression to develop innovative therapeutics. Fu utilizes high-throughput approaches such as RNA-sequencing and ChIP-sequencing, along with in vitro and in vivo models, to tackle these significant questions.
