Biography

Yanick Noiseux is an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology at the University of Montreal and a principal researcher at the Interdisciplinary and Interuniversity Research Group on Employment, Poverty, and Social Protection (GIREPS). His work primarily focuses on the renewal of labor unions and collective action among poor workers, transformations in labor, and social policies in the context of globalization. He is particularly interested in the collective organization of precarious workers in Canada, Argentina, and India. He has published the book titled "Transformations of Labor Markets and Union Innovations in Quebec" with the Presses de l’Université du Québec (2014) and co-edited, with Fernando J. Pires de Sousa, the book "Labor, Development, and Poverty in a Globalized World" published by UFC. Recently, he co-edited the book "Engaged Research in the Context of Precarious Work," which was published by PUQ in 2024.
