Biography

Yanjun Han is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Data Science at the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences, New York University. He holds a B.E. in Electronic Engineering from Tsinghua University, which he completed in July 2015. He further obtained his M.S. and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University in August 2021, where he was supervised by Tsachy Weissman. Following his doctoral studies, he served as a postdoctoral scholar associated with the Statistics and Data Science Center at MIT from 2021 to 2023. His research interests broadly encompass mathematics, data science, statistics, learning theory, bandits, and information theory. Han has contributed to the field through several notable publications, including works on optimality in non-parametric maximum likelihood distribution estimation and causal inference with high-dimensional discrete covariates. He is also affiliated with the Center for Data Science and the Computer Science Department at NYU.
