Biography

After completing undergraduate studies at the Technological Educational Institute of Athens with a BSc in Business Administration, Yannis Tsalavoutas undertook an MBA program at the University of Stirling, specializing in Corporate Finance. In November 2009, he completed his PhD in Accounting at the University of Edinburgh. His work experience includes roles as an accountant in Greece and a financial accounting reporting analyst at Company Reporting Ltd in Edinburgh. Yannis joined the University of Glasgow in January 2015 as a Lecturer in Accounting after previously serving at the University of Stirling. He is a member of various professional bodies including the ACCA Global Forum on Corporate Reporting and the ICAS Corporate & Financial Reporting Panel. He also holds leadership roles in the Adam Smith Observatory on Corporate Reporting Practices and serves as an Associate Editor for both The British Accounting Review and the Journal of International Accounting, Auditing & Taxation. His research focuses on financial accounting reporting, particularly examining companies' reporting practices under International Financial Reporting Standards and the capital market implications of reporting divergences.
