Biography

Yara Banz is a Senior Staff Pathologist specializing in Clinical Pathology at the Institute of Tissue Medicine and Pathology at the University of Bern. With an MD and PhD, she underwent postdoctoral training at Harvard University in Boston. Her primary research and teaching interests focus on cardiovascular pathology and hematopathology. Since 2011, she has been coordinating the teaching activities at her institute and heads the unit of postmortem diagnostics. Banz is a member of the Foundation for Experimental Clinical Tumor Research and has been appointed as its President beginning in 2024.
