Biography

Yaron Eliav is an Associate Professor at the University of Michigan specializing in Rabbinic Literature and Jewish History during Late Antiquity. His research draws on Talmudic and early Christian texts, as well as classic literatures and archaeology, to study the cultural interactions within the Roman Mediterranean and the encounters between Jews and Graeco-Roman cultures. His latest book, 'Jew and Roman Bathhouse: Cultural Interaction in the Ancient Mediterranean', was published by Princeton University Press in 2023. He has also led a significant project focusing on innovative methods for teaching about the ancient world, funded by a $1,000,000 grant, culminating in a documentary on Paul and Athens and extensive resources for teaching.
