Yarui Diao is an Associate Professor in the Department of Cell Biology at Duke University. His research program, 'Regeneration Genomics', focuses on unraveling the gene regulatory mechanisms that drive cell fate changes during development and regeneration. Diao's expertise in epigenetics and genomics emerged during his PhD training at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, where he studied the epigenetic mechanisms underlying skeletal muscle regeneration. He later joined Dr. Bing Ren’s lab at UC San Diego as a Human Frontier Science Program Postdoctoral Fellow. Over his career, he has published papers in reputable journals such as PNAS, Cell Stem Cell, and Nature Genetics, with interests spanning stem cell biology, regeneration, and epigenomics. Since establishing his independent lab at Duke in 2018, Diao's team has made significant discoveries related to muscular dystrophy and stem cell self-renewal. He is also committed to mentoring, teaching, and serving the academic community, having received awards for his excellence in teaching and actively contributing to scientific symposiums at Duke.
