Dr. Yasser Bhatti

Biography

Yasser Bhatti is an academic and scholar at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, specializing in Strategy, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship. He graduated with a Doctorate in Management, with a focus on innovation, and holds a Master's degree in Management Research, concentrating on entrepreneurship. With over a decade of experience at Saïd Business School, Yasser has contributed to various faculty research projects and pedagogical programs. He co-authored the book 'Frugal Innovation – Models, Means, Methods,' published by Cambridge University Press, analyzing how entrepreneurs and large firms can pursue competitive and profitable strategies to innovate and improve lives. Yasser's research focuses on merging emerging models of innovation, including frugal and social reverse innovations, with strategy concepts like cost leadership and business models. He employs mixed methods and conducts studies through the lenses of institutional theory and the resource-based view. His projects have supported initiatives such as the Skoll Centre for Social Entrepreneurship and the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor, among others. In teaching, Yasser instructs undergraduate, MBA, and Executive Education courses in strategy and innovation, aiming to align his teaching with the UN's Principles for Responsible Management Education. Additionally, he has shared his expertise with organizations like Fraunhofer and NESTA and served on the scientific advisory board for the European Commission Project on Frugal Innovation.
