Biography

Yasser Hassan is a prominent figure in the field of Civil and Environmental Engineering, specializing in Transportation Engineering. He holds a B.Sc. and M.Sc. from Cairo University, Egypt, and obtained his Ph.D. from Carleton University. Hassan's research interests are diverse, encompassing modeling roadway alignments, the interaction of highway infrastructure with connected and autonomous vehicles, and the effects of driver perception behavior on collision risks. He is also focused on design consistency and traffic safety, as well as probabilistic highway design. He has served on the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Advances in Transportation Studies since 2004 and has been an Associate Editor for the Canadian Journal of Civil Engineering since 2012. His contributions have been recognized in various capacities, including as a member of numerous committees within the Transportation Research Board. Hassan is actively involved in academia as an educator, with several teaching assignments related to Highway Engineering and Urban Planning.
