Biography

Yasser Mohamed received his B.Sc. (with honors) and M.Sc. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Ain Shams University, Cairo, in 2000 and 2004, respectively. He obtained his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Waterloo, Canada, in 2008. Dr. Mohamed has served as a research engineer in the aerospace industry and as a research teaching assistant at the University of Waterloo. He joined the University of Alberta in January 2009 as an Assistant Professor, was promoted to Associate Professor in 2013, and became a Full Professor in 2017, specializing in Electrical and Computer Engineering. His research focuses on modeling, analysis, stability, and control of power electronic converter systems and microgrids, as well as integrating renewable energy resources. He has been involved in significant industrial research and development projects with various organizations. Dr. Mohamed is a Fellow of the IEEE and the Asia-Pacific Artificial Intelligence Association, and has held editorial roles for numerous prestigious journals. He has trained over 50 graduate students and has received various awards for his contributions to electrical engineering.
