Generate a tailored SOP for Dr. Yau Lim. Improve your application with a focused, well-structured draft.
Yau Mun Lim obtained a BSc degree in Biomedical Sciences from Imperial College London in 2013. During this time, he developed an interest in Alzheimer's disease and its underlying causes. He continued at Imperial College London to complete an MRes in Experimental Neuroscience, graduating in 2014. In 2018, Yau completed his PhD in Old Age Psychiatry at King’s College London, funded by the Alzheimer’s Society, where he developed a cellular-based disease model for TREM2, a risk gene for Alzheimer’s disease. He became involved in the self-taught and emerging gene editing technology CRISPR-Cas9, using it to knock-in disease-associated TREM2 variants into cells. Currently, Yau is applying his expertise in gene editing to cancer therapy, working together with colleagues in Professor Khuloud Al-Jamal's group to use nanoparticles for delivering therapeutic CRISPR-Cas9 to tumors. Yau is also an expert in immunohistochemistry, assisting colleagues in staining formalin-fixed tumor tissues for in vivo experiments.
Requirements are consistent across King's Business School and Social Science & Public Policy departments for standard Master's entries.
