Biography

Professor Bozer’s teaching and research interests focus on developing quantitative models to design and improve the performance of material handling systems in manufacturing, distribution, e-commerce, and logistics. He is a leading researcher in facility logistics design, manufacturing facilities, warehouses, fulfillment centers, supply chain facilities, and cross-docks distribution centers. In addition to developing operations research tools, he has studied the application of Lean techniques and value stream analysis in the design of manufacturing and distribution processes. With professional experience as a consultant at SysteCon Division of PricewaterhouseCoopers and subsequently as a full-time Research Engineer at the Material Handling Research Center at Georgia Tech, he has made significant contributions to the field. His accolades include the 1987 Outstanding Dissertation Award from the Institute of Industrial Engineers and being named a Presidential Young Investigator by the National Science Foundation in 1988. Professor Bozer has co-authored a well-regarded textbook on Facilities Planning, translated into several languages, and served as Co-Director of the Tauber Institute for Global Operations for 11 years. His recent research includes diverse areas such as intra-facility patient transport in large hospitals and order picking systems in online retailing.
