Dr. Yazid Al Hamarneh

Biography

Yazid Al Hamarneh is an Assistant Professor and Scientific Officer at the University of Alberta's Department of Pharmacology. He serves as the Associate Director of the Alberta SPOR SUPPORT Unit and has a strong background in clinical pharmacy, focusing on health services research with a particular emphasis on chronic disease management and cardiovascular disease risk factors. Al Hamarneh's educational qualifications include a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from the University of Jordan, a PhD in Clinical Pharmacy from Queen’s University, Belfast, and a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Cardiology Research Methods at the University of Alberta. His research interests lie in chronic disease prevention and management, improving patient outcomes through enhanced pharmacy practice, and fostering patient-centered care. He is actively involved in various research projects aimed at increasing awareness and improving management of cardiovascular disease risk factors, advocating for a shift towards more patient-oriented approaches in pharmacy. His work is published in prominent journals, contributing to the dialogue around the roles of pharmacists in healthcare equity and integration in collaborative care teams.
