Biography

Yeongho Kim is a scientist specializing in lipid metabolism and cell biology. He received his PhD in 2018 from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in the Genetics, Cellular, and Molecular Biology program. His doctoral research focused on engineering the biosynthesis of biodiesel precursors from the microalga Chlamydomonas reinhardtii. Since then, he has worked as a postdoctoral associate in the Department of Cell Biology at Yale School of Medicine, where he studies the regulation of cellular cholesterol and its impact on inter-organellar trafficking and sphingolipid synthesis. His current research examines the roles of cholesterol and sphingolipids in the production and accumulation of Amyloid Beta, which is linked to the development of Alzheimer's disease, particularly through their interactions with gamma-secretase and Amyloid Precursor Protein.
